Please mark your calendars for the 2016 Zinck's Night on the third Thursday in October -- just as every year! Klaus Conrad (M.S.'60) and Deloyce Conrad (B.S.'59) of the Munich Chapter have reserved a "Conrad-Cornell" table in some of the areas at the Ratskeller right at Marienplatz in the center of Munich for anytime after 6;30pm. Just ask the waiters for the table. Marienplatz can easily be reached by S- or U-Bahn public transportation.

July 2016 07/21/2016 Klaus and Deloyce Conrad have again confirmed announcements, as during the last many years, for the "Summer Quarterly" of the Munich Chapter.

This annual Cornell Beer Garden “get-together” in Munich is again taking place in the Hirschgarten, (www.hirschgarten.de) any time after 6:30 p.m. Directions and parking are also given in the English version on the Hirschgarten website.  It gives the S-Bahn directions as well – it is important that the correct stop is “Laim” and not the “Hirschgarten” stop! In case of bad weather Deloyce and Klaus have reserved a table either under an awning, or indoors.  The reservation is done under the name “Cornell-Conrad.”

The 25th annual Cornell Weekend of the Cornell Club of Germany is approaching soon and all interested Cornellians are invited and asked to participate. 

This year's annual Cornell weekend will resume in the east of Germany, in the city of Munich in the German federal state of Bavaria. Preparations  are almost complete for the the program, the agenda for the annual meeting, the registration form and of course the official invitation will be published. You may also register with the new CornellConnect event registration.

The Munich meeting will convene at the hotel NH Deutscher Kaiser in Munich.

We will start the weekend with a welcome event and dinner at 07:00 p.m. at the NH Hotel. An after dinner presentation will be given by the art historian at the Munich city archive, Dr. Brigitte Huber, about "Wall, Gates, Bastions - Munich's Municipal History Demonstrated on the Bastions of its Fortifications". This presentation follows our line of learning about the history at all of those places we have visited over the many years of annual Cornell weekends.

We will continue the weekend at 09:00 a.m. with our annual Members Meeting of the Cornell Club of Germany e.V. at the NH Deutscher Kaiser Hotel. The agenda is available in German and in English.

At 10:30 a.m. we all are invited to come togehter for a guided tour of the city center of Munich.

Around 12:15 p.m. we are going to sit down for lunch break ("Brotzeit") at the Hofbräuhaus,  Platzl 9, 80331 Munich.

At 01:30 p.m. we will continue the day with with a guided bus tour to and through the Munich five lake district around Starnberg.

As we are approaching 03:30 p.m. a boat trip on the Ammersee with coffee and cake is waiting for us. Thereafter we are continuing per bus to Andechs, located in the South of Herrsching, and its famous Benedictine monastery brewery and pilgrimage church to pay visit to the pilgrimage church at 06:30 p.m.

After that we will get ready for the evening event which will start at the Klostergasthof at Andechs, Bergstraße 9, 82346 Andechs at 07:00 p.m. for a festive dinner.

Around 09:00 p.m. an after dinner presentation will be given by Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Kramer, historian and professor for Bavarian national history at the LMU Munich and Chairman of the Bavarian National History Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Science, on the subject of
"In the heart of Europe-Aspects of Bavarian Modernization 1945-2016"
(held in English).

This is the final day of our annual Cornell Weekend at Munich and we will start the day at
09:30 a.m. with our traditional "Big Red Brunch" at the NH Hotel. At 11.00 a.m. the official program of the weekend will end.
